Evelyn Pollard – HR, WHS and Workforce Planning

Working across a wide variety of industries in both the private and public sectors, Evelyn draws on over 25 years’ experience to deliver human resource management in an easy-to-understand way. Having also worked in the areas of work health safety and injury management, Evelyn can guide business owners on the appropriate methods and resources to ensure compliance in these areas.

Evelyn provides virtual HR, WHS and Workforce Planning advisory services to businesses.

Evelyn assists businesses in meeting their obligations as they navigate through the complex legislative environment that surrounds looking after their assets – their people! Evelyn can assist in the areas of:

Human Resource Management

• Hiring staff – guidance on how to ensure you meet your legislative obligations.

• Considerations to take on board before hiring your first staff member when moving from being a sole trader. It is more than hiring and paying them!

• Key information to be captured in an employment contract to protect your business.

• Coaching and supporting business owners in managing performance and/or conduct matters, including ensuring due process is followed when time comes to let staff go.

• Identifying HR policies/procedures/guidelines needed to address your business risks.

• How to prepare/write job descriptions that deliver on outcomes.

• Undertaking position classification/grading assessments that align with the relevant Award – ensuring that you are paying your staff the correct rate.

Work Health and Safety (WHS)

• Employee wellbeing – monitoring the wellbeing of your workforce.

• Sexual harassment, workplace bullying and discrimination obligations, particularly with new legislation now in place.

• Understanding workplace risks and obligations.

Workforce Planning

• Strategic workforce planning – focusing on organisation structure, employee redeployment, succession planning, staffing budgets, maintaining capacity, and reducing organisational risk.

• Operational workforce planning – focusing on getting the correct workforce size, having the right mix of skills, capabilities, knowledge, and experience, finding the optimal staffing expenditure, and developing the workforce to be agile and adapt quickly when changes occur.

Sessions with Evelyn are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays 1pm-5pm. Evelyn will be in contact within 1 business day of booking your session.

Evelyn Pollard has extensive experience in human resource management, work health safety, injury management, customer service, change management and continuous improvement. Evelyn provides businesses with access to virtual HR and WHS advisory services.

The Southern Business Mentoring Program is available to businesses, including start-ups, operating within the City of Holdfast Bay, City of Marion, City of Onkaparinga and the District Council of Yankalilla. Eligible businesses are able to meet once with an advisor from each discipline.

Sessions are currently being delivered through Skype, zoom, phone or in person. Once you have completed your booking your mentor will be in touch to discuss a suitable option.

The Southern Business Mentoring Program Extension Service, which provides an additional three appointments with your chosen mentor, is an initiative of the Government of South Australia’s Office for Small and Family Business and the South Australian Small Business Strategy 2023 – 2030. Please note businesses are eligible for a total of three additional appointments, not three appointments per mentor.
